This 1997 Specialized Stumpjumper frame was kindly donated to our charity.
Inspired by the original Stumpjumper that was/is basically the "cool kid" of the vintage mountain bike world, we took an early Shimano XT M091 groupset that was also donated to us to create (what we think is) this stunning bike
It’s a lean, mean, steel machine that feels just as fast today as it did thirty years ago. Back then, they weren't worried about fancy lockouts or complicated electronics; they just focused on making a frame that was light, snappy, and tough as nails.
Riding one of these is a total blast. Because the steel is so high-quality, the frame actually "breathes" with the trail, soaking up the chatter.
We hope the classic, understated look shines through and provides joy for its new prospective owner. We also hope that the knowledge that every penny goes towards our charitable impact adds to the experience too.
It’s simple, it’s soulful, and honestly, it’s just a hell of a lot of fun to ride.
(Please note, a replacement M091 shifter has been sourced and will be fitted to this bike when it arrives. Every part has been meticulously serviced. It was during this process that we realised the internal mechanism of the front mech might not last in the long term so we are replacing it so that its new owner can enjoy it, problem-free for longer.)
